Visit of the Obuda University Delegation to Kyrgyzstan

Obuda University had an excellent opportunity to strengthen its international relations when its delegation visited Bishkek on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of Kyrgyz State Technical University (KSTU). The Hungarian delegation was led by Prof. Dr. András Molnár, Vice-Rector for Informatics and Quality Assurance, and Dr. habil. László Koltai, Dean of the Rejtő Sándor Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Engineering. The delegation also included Kristina Varias and Tibor Virágh responsible for international relations.

KSTU is one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan, training excellent engineers for the region for seven decades. The university actively participates in international research projects and collaborates with numerous foreign universities.

During the visit, the representatives of Obuda University held a professional meeting with Prof. Dr. Mirlan Koichubekovich Chynybaev, Rector of KSTU, to whom they delivered a personal message from Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of Obuda University. During the meeting, both parties expressed their support for the establishment of a dual degree program in Light Industry Engineering at the MSc level. At the KSTU’s anniversary ceremony, Prof. Dr. András Molnár presented Prof. Dr. Mirlan Koichubekovich Chynybaev with the “Ad optimum opus” honorary diploma, recognizing KSTU’s 70 years of achievements.

The discussions focused on developing a closer relationship between the Rejtő Faculty and KSTU, with particular emphasis on education in Light Industry Engineering and Product Design. The delegation also toured KSTU’s modern laboratories and workshops, where they witnessed firsthand the high standard of educational and research activities at the university.

One of the significant outcomes of the visit was the signing of a detailed work plan by Dr. Imiila Rysbaeva, Head of the KSTU Institute of Technology, and Dr. habil. László Koltai. This document outlines the tasks for the next two years, defining the specific steps for collaboration between the two universities. The agreement marks a major step forward and opens new opportunities for both institutions.

Prof. Dr. András Molnár stated: “The visit not only provided an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the two universities, but we also took concrete steps to deepen our cooperation. The planned joint program in Light Industry Engineering could open a new chapter in our education, offering our students the chance to gain experience in an international setting. I am confident that the work plan we signed will lead to the realization of many successful projects with our partner in the coming years.”

Dr. habil. László Koltai remarked: “The cooperation with KSTU brings numerous benefits to Obuda University and the Rejtő Faculty. The Kyrgyz university has an excellent professional background, and through our collaboration, we will gain valuable knowledge and experience. By implementing the tasks outlined in the signed work plan, we can significantly strengthen the international relations of the Rejtő Faculty and contribute to making our students even more competitive in the labor market. I consider the planned joint courses in Light Industry Engineering to be particularly important, as this is a unique field that is in demand in both countries.”
