On August 14th, a delegation from the Republic of Korea visited Obuda University as part of the Economic Innovation Partnership Program (EIPP). The program focuses on the development of e-mobility and carbon-neutral transportation.
Negotiations, which began in April this year, continued with the Korean researchers involved in the EIPP program, discussing the industry’s demand for skilled professionals. Obuda University was represented by Dr. Viktória Sugár, Vice-Rector for Sustainability and Key Developments, Dr. habil. Tibor Wührl, Vice-Dean for Research at the Kandó Kálmán Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and Dr. Zsombor Zrubka, Director General of the University Research and Innovation Center.
The delegation was led by Dr. Yang Ho Lee, a leading research professor at Kyonggi University (KGU). In his presentation, he introduced the South Korean side’s proposal for innovation cooperation. As part of a joint program between Hungary and South Korea, the proposal aims to develop a skilled workforce in the electric vehicle and battery industries. The current discussion explored how Obuda University could contribute to this initiative. In this context, the possibility of establishing a joint human resource development system between the Far Eastern country and Hungary was raised, which could help address labor market imbalances and implement a reference model.
The visiting delegation concluded their visit at the EKIK lab, where they had the opportunity to observe Obuda University’s robots.
