Additional Admission: A Record Number of Students Accepted to Obuda University

Combining the data from both the regular and additional admission processes, nearly 4,300 students will begin their studies at Obuda University, the highest number in the institution’s history. This year, 442 students were admitted through the additional admission process. New programs and locations were introduced, including undergraduate studies in Energy Engineering, as well as master’s programs in Structural Civil Engineering, Sustainable Energy Engineering, and Marketing. Professor Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of the university, highlighted that the institution has never admitted this many students while maintaining high academic standards.

This year, more than 4,200 students will commence their studies across various technical, IT, economic sciences, agricultural, natural sciences, and pedagogical programs—marking the highest enrollment in the 14-year history of Obuda University when combining the numbers from the regular and additional admission processes.

The Rector emphasized that in addition to Budapest, Kaposvár, Salgótarján, and Székesfehérvár, newly admitted students will also begin their university studies at a new location in Cegléd. The Energy Engineering undergraduate program and the Structural Civil Engineering master’s program were announced for the first time during the additional admission process. Furthermore, for the first time, the university offered the Business Informatics undergraduate program and higher education vocational training in a correspondence format, which will also commence in September.

To maintain high educational standards, admission to most programs at Obuda University required an advanced-level matriculation exam. The university also set minimum score thresholds for each program, and in the additional admission process, students were admitted with higher scores across all programs. In several cases, the average admission scores exceeded 400 points, with the Electrical Engineering undergraduate program having an average of 412 points and the Computer Engineering undergraduate program averaging 419 points.

Obuda University continues to attract young people, as its practice-oriented programs equip students to respond effectively to the ever-changing and evolving market demands, enabling them to secure employment in their chosen fields shortly after graduation. Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács emphasized that the institution is committed to adapting its educational system to meet the rapidly changing economic needs, aligning with the trends of today’s digitized industry (Industry 4.0).
